Northland could become NZ’s first Renewable Energy Zone pilot

The government has set a goal that 100% of the energy that we generate in 2030 will come from renewable sources.

One way to help could be to create a renewable energy zone. To test the concept local lines companies, Top Energy and Northpower, have been working with Transpower to help make this happen and they want the community to get behind the Northland proposal. The network improvements needed could unlock enough renewable generation to power over 375,000 households.

Renewable energy zones could help to achieve New Zealand’s climate change goals and make a big contribution to the economy and our communities.
